With the calendar flipped to December and the clock ticking towards the holidays, our lead carpenter, Jeremy and the rest of the team put the finishing touches on a new kitchen and dining room for a Needham family. The kitchen received a complete remodel with a larger island that allowed for additional seating, crisp, white cabinetry, and some appliance upgrades. The countertops are beautiful and the Client selected Silestone, Pearl Jasmine in suede- the cool white paired with the warm honed finish is as every bit as pleasing as its name. Everyone who touched it commented on its unique character.
Many of our project help cure more than one objective. This kitchen needed more storage and the mudroom needed a better arrangement all while the dining room was larger than needed (probably due to the location of a bearing wall. By borrowing a few feet from the dining room and widening the dining room entrance, we gave the client a great transition that allows the dining room to be equally at home for casual family meals or decked out for fun more serious affairs. The newly created pass through now includes a bar area with glass front cabinets and a beverage fridge with tall storage cabinets on the opposite wall. Special attention was given to the treatment of the glass doors using a seeded glass that is also mimicked in the kitchen’s glass pendants tying the space together. The final eye-catching transformation, now a focal point of the room, is the dining room’s coffered ceiling. The ceiling treatment was the result of a conscious decision to lower the ceiling height to create a more intimate space while the coffered architectural design added a feeling of airiness and drama back into the room.
As an added bonus even, the mudroom received a facelift. Visible from the kitchen, our designers shifted things around to create a more practical and pleasing space. This is the result of designers who are always trying to maximize every inch of a room and think differently about how it can best be used. The result- a home well lived and loved.
