Cement Tile & Its Porcelain Substitute

Cement sounds synonymous with industrial, but this is not the case when it comes to a design trend that has grown in popularity in the past few years.

Cement tile became the new centerpiece of floor tile design when it infused bold or neutral colors in oversized patterns atop creamy cement-toned backgrounds. It looks markedly different than anything else in the tile stores and conjures up images of European travel destinations where the look is an age-old tradition.

This highly adaptable look became even more desirable when it was replicated in a porcelain tile giving it both durability and saved on the necessary maintenance that comes with maintaining the similar looking cement tile. For some, authenticity will always reign supreme as seen in the mudroom pictured below; and we applaud that. However, for those of you who know maintenance is not a word you can live with, it is nice to offer a reputable substitute that takes center stage in this kids' bath where it adds bold texture to the small space helping bring it to life.
